Sprint Course Description and Maps

Sprint Triathlon Swim (1/4 mile)

Flat water ocean swim course protected by UCSB Campus Point. Swim is counter-clockwise around all 4 buoys shown below.

Sprint Triathlon Bike, 8 miles (1 loop)

The Sprint bike segment exits the beach and follows the Obern Recreational Bike Path and consists of one 8-mile loop. Riders will exit the beach and ride along the recreational bike path until they reach Puente Drive where they will turn right and head up the hill to the turnaround point. Then they will head back toward the beach the same way.

NOTE: There will be NO Water Stations on the bike course. All participants should carry extra fluids on their bike.

Sprint Triathlon Run (2.5 miles)

The Sprint Course Run will follow the recreational bike path in and around the Park. There will be 2 loops that will need to be completed for a total of 2.5 miles (each loop is approx. 1.25 miles). There will be a timing mat in place at the start of each loop to insure all runners complete both loops.

Upon exiting the Transition Area you’ll head east towards Santa Barbara by turning right onto the recreational path. Once on the path, you will proceed east towards the Park entrance turnaround. Once you make the turnaround, head back the other way and turn right under the 217 Freeway towards the Santa Barbara Airport. Once you reach the turnaround point near the Airport, you will return under the 217 Freeway and turn right toward the UCSB turnaround near the westmost Park boundary. There is a timing mat at this location which indicates the start of the next loop. Sprint Course triathletes will need to complete 2 loops before they are allowed to take the turn that leads them to the Finish Line.

It is highly recommended that you study the Course Maps & ride the course BEFORE race day!!
